If you are going to Kashmir, these flea markets located in Sri Nagar would be the best place to buy your winter accessories. It is way cheaper and good quality of products you can opt for.
First, we went to the Sunday Flea Market and stumbled across the endangered heritage of royal trees of Kashmir - Chinar trees (Plane tree, Platanus orientalis, or Buen and Booyn in the Kashmiri language).
From the twigs and barks which have extensive uses in making fabric dyes, timber which is also known as lacewood to make furniture, the leaves, and bark used for the preparation of medicines for several diseases. Right now, Kashmir adapting the Go Green concept by planting as many trees to preserve another type of trees too.
We were searching for good bargains for leather winter gloves, jackets, and shoes and headed to the Sunday Flea Market. Unfortunately, while we were doing our roundings, the sellers need to close their stalls due to instruction from the militaries at that moment in time.
We managed to capture some shots of Kashmiri people's daily activities and headed to the regular flea market.
There, we managed to get some good items, and honestly speaking, you need to learn some words of Kashmiri to learn the art of bargaining. We tried hard to lower down the price as much as we can but the sellers were really strong-headed!
We managed to explore the "thee sathi/firepot/kangri" that is a must during winter.
Most Kashmiri
sellers carry it under their robes to heat up while running their
business.
You can see Selvi trying her new shoes. Our tour guide asks us to have a
peek at the Clock Tower at Lal Chowk street (House of the Bell) before
heading to the next destination. This clock tower was constructed by
Bajaj Electricals in 1980 and gained political significance in 1992,
when the then Bharatiya Janata Party president, Murli Manohar Joshi,
hoisted the Indian flag on top of the tower on Republic Day.
From
wedding celebrations to memorials commemorating the 40th day after a
family member’s death, Wazwan feast represent an integral part of family
gatherings in Kashmir. While
it is a part of Kashmiri culture, the dishes’ names and their
bountiful, spice-rich sauces tell of a long history of Persian, Arabic,
and Central Asian influences.
With
more than three dozen dishes, many of which feature mutton (sheep or
lamb), having a professional is essential. The wusta waza leads a team
of men who tenderize, cut, spice, and blend the meat before cooking the
dishes The meal is served upon heaps of rice and accompanied by yogurt
garnished with Kashmiri saffron and pickles.
Most restaurants in Kashmir served Wazwan varieties as it becomes common for family and friends. In our menu, we tried :
1.
Goshtaba : A traditional delicacy of Kashmir, Goshatba is minced mutton
cooked in flavorful yogurt gravy and spices. This dish is prepared on
royal occasions as popular known as "dish for kings".
2. Tabaak Maaz: Ribs of lamb deepfried and served dry.
3.
Rista: saffron flavored Kashmiri dish of mutton (or lamb) meatballs in a
thin, non-spicy red curry, and a part of the legendary Wazwaan.
4. Kebab: grilled or roasted pieces of vegetables, fish, or meat. Here we have mutton kebab.
5. Mutton Pulao : delicate combination of spices with lamb and rice.
6. Cheese Kofta : Dumplings made with cottage cheese and then simmered in a creamy gravy.
At
the end of our meal course, we had a cup of tea to complete our lunch.
The food tastes are totally different from Indian cuisine due to herbs
and it is not spicy. Curries are made from mild seasoning herbs, nuts,
and saffron. The meat and fresh supplements are from villages and it was
super tender and quality. Overall, food would be a master class of
royal menu.
Also,
the restaurant people are friendly and they were attentive every
minute. The ambiance was regal with beautiful marble work and lighting. From the utensils to chairs, it has Mughal's elements to
represent the culture of Kashmir.
End of the day, we was thankful to have a great meal after a long flight journey.
From kid to adult, i grow up remembering all these words i was called/told :
1) Charcoal 2) Cow 3) Indian who wannabe international 4) Hey, you look good, if you lose weight, you will look better or can act in movies 5) You sing like a frog, let me sing it for you/put some make up while doing videos. You look plain and pale 6) Fat pig 7) All these guys surrounding her, she is a slut 8) Watch where you are, you dont belong here 9) You are an average girl, so it is best to marry a widow 10) Dont you think you need to sweat more to lose that weight? 11) Which shop are you buying the grains/rice? I wanna gain weight like you 12) I cant be heavy or be with/like you, my reputation will ruin 13) How much kilo are your breast? 14) Everyone talks about you, so you the one. I am not seeing anything special about you (grin) 15) If i give this role/job to you, the "others" will question me 16) You need to put triple time effort because you are from that race 17) We cant be friend with you because you are an Indian/brown/dark
18) Even though your profile/efforts seems to be impressive, we cant
hire or promote you because the superior wants to hire someone they know 19) You want to be celebrity, have you seen yourself in the mirror lately? 20) Why do you look different from other siblings? Cant you be slim and fair like your sister? 21) The list goes on...
Amazingly, all these people are from family, friends, colleagues,
closed one and idols who you think they will lift you to soar the sky,
groom you to be positive & fight the devils in the world.
Many times i was not invited for parties, reunion, weddings etc due to
same reason Sushant felt he was been character assassinated and and
isolated. It hurts in the beginning but i started to adapt with the
culture and doesn't impose the same mentality like these people.
I am a self made person who still fighting depression, bully-ism and gas lighting. I know depression is not easy to fight.
One moment you are watching a pregnant elephant died of cruelty, you
feel helpless about it. The next moment you wanted to take your life
because you think you are worthless. It is easy to say talk to your
loved one or professionals but the battle is yours.
Depression
doesn't have face. You can be Hitler, Mother Theressa, a cat or a tree
and it will hit your soul like falling meteors.
You are your
best friend. Talk how you want to explore the world. Put the misery end
by moulding people to be kind. How do you want to make the world as a
better place. How do you want to create awareness by telling your
stories.
i have this urge to write this article due to the alarming trend of suicidal cases among the elder generation.
Sadly, most of the time suicide awareness are widely discussed when
there are celebrities involved. But there are common people who does
that everyday, in some part of the world that are not noticeable to our
eyes.
I have experienced a live suicide when my neighbor took his
life when he found that he was diagnosis with cancer. So, he wrote a
letter to his sister saying that he doesn't want her to bare his cost of
treatment and prefer to take his own life. He get into his car and
connect the exhaust pipe inside the car and died of carbon monoxide. He
was 22 years old and it was like 20 years back.
Do i have
suicidal thoughts? Yes, it is like maze filled with lot of routes and
when you take the one with light , there will be a dark tunnel you need
to go thru. But once you successfully pass thru that route, another dark
route will appear which you think that's the end.
That's how
suicidal thoughts can be. Suicidal doesn't mean you need to have cancer,
doesn't mean you got everything in life, doesn't mean you are poor,
having hard time and you need to end your life. Doesn't mean you been
raped, robbed, ripped in life and that's it.
I went to the
internet today and the suicidal prevention shows that you need to
contact the counselors, befrienders or suicidal squads. There are
millions of tips to identify the sign of suicidal , prevention, how to
help a suicidal person. In my opinion, most suicidal people doesn't want
to talk about it because they might get judged by the society as
mentally ill, marked as depressed and etc. Some of them even thinks
talking to god about suicidal is not a good sign.
I have a young
friend who call me at the middle night , crying saying her grades are
bad and she need to end her life. I have a friend who i knew her entire
of my life called me and told that she feel suicidal and planning to
take her life with her children. I spoke to them about my experience and
they are surprised they are not alone in the world about the problems
they are facing.
When you are thinking that suicidal is an easy
solution, take a challenge to live and aspire others. You can be 10 or
60 years old, but there is always something you can do to make a living
or inspire someone to be a better person.
That's why i do a
bucket list like recently i have traveled alone to Japan to overcome my
anxiety. I want to do it alone and i made it. I thought planes are
frightening, i thought i can't do/manage things alone. I thought that
Japan will mark me as an alien. But i did that alone and i manage to
break that barrier.
Did you went thru the similar situation?
Yes, many times, many many many times! How did you overcome it? Whenever
i have these feelings, i remember the faggots who did bad things to me
and they still alive. So i thought i need to continue living to show
that i can live more than them!
Talk to people who you think you are comfortable with. Live to the fullest and live without expectations.
1) Pasmo Or Suica Card : Like top up card, you can either use Pasmo
or Suica at train subway/metro, convenience store or in shopping complex
if you prefer cashless free. Purchasable in airports, participating
private railway and subway stations or bus depots. Cards are returnable
(deposit 500 yen) and lifetime usable.
2) Hotel/Hostel/Airbnb? :
As a solo traveler, i opt for Airbnb because the comfort and privacy was
much more convenient. Most guesthouse in Tokyo are located at strategic
train station areas. Nevertheless, if you are new user, Airbnb gives
you RM120 as you can use that to cover 1 or 2 days of your trip!
I
have opt to stay in Sharehouse Hotaru which is nearest to the train
station and there are alot of eateries from japanese to western. For
more information about Hotaru Sharehouse, please check out the link
below : https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/7891458
Furthermore, if you refer a friend, you and your friend get some
incentive. You can use mine if you planning to book via Airbnb!
Why i didn't opt for hotel/hostel due to full bookings/busy life in
Tokyo city! I prefer quiet neighborhood and people are lovely there!
3) Use Google Map/GuruNavi App : This is much convenient while checking
up your train schedule/restaurant and route to your destination.
4) Use translator app (there is many good apps like Google translator
(translate via voice, picture, keyboard and verbal conversation : People
in Tokyo speaks in basis English, therefore, i strongly suggest to use
these app to make your life easy!
5) Money exchange : Best
advisable to change at your country (if you are Asian) or withdraw from
ATM (7 eleven is the best for overseas withdrawal). I have tried money
exchange in Tokyo and received much more lower than i expected. My
friends who travel to Tokyo advice on withdrawal via ATM if you are
short of cash.
6) Why some people doesn't smile here? : Because
Japanese are shy people. They might look stern but doesn't know how to
react when someone starring at them (consider rude). They are the most
polite people that i ever met. Most of them had helped me alot during my
trip to Tokyo! Say Ko Ni Chi Wa or simply learn few basic words to
communicate with people here!
7) Learn some basic Japanese words
like greetings, thank you etc to make your life easier while traveling.
If you are still in doubt, draw or use body language!
8 ) As a
woman, can i travel to Tokyo as a solo traveler? : Yes, you bet you can!
I can say 101% percent, Tokyo is the most safest place in earth to
travel alone as a woman. You can be beautiful like angel or curvy like
the river, for 8 days, I have walked alone at lonely street at 10/11 pm
ish.
Only at two incidents, i have met a drunk gentleman who
freaks me out for a min and a young guy at his 20's approached to ask if
i am married (i said yes and he walked away.
9) Wear proper
clothes especially when you are at remote areas. People here wear full
clothes and please do have some respect on their culture.
10) Do
not bring maggi noodles, brahim, masala, etc packed from your country
and ending up not cooking. Especially if you are non Muslim, food at
most small eateries are super cheap (450 yen for full and big portion
meal set) =RM 16. Can last till dinner. There is lotsa convenience marts
here caters food (start from 100 yen). Try Japanese food as you cant
find them as fresh as anywhere in the world! Try street food, i say it
loud and clear!
Vending machines are available wherever you go. If you need hot coffee/tea, yes! They are available via vending machine too!
Tokyo is growing as wonder of food business so there is western,
Indian, Chinese, vegan, Turkish, Nepal, halal, street food and etc
cuisines!
11) Public toilets are accessible anywhere and dont
get freak with their current technology with the toilets! Learn to
operate them via google. It is easy to use and they have the cleanest
toilet system as i know.
12) Bring less clothes! Launderettes
are available wherever you go! You can use the same t-shirt for twice in
a week with different pants! For girls, you can shaffle one blouse with
jeans, pants or skirts.
13) Souvenirs/Tax free shops : They are
available in Shinjuku, Ginza, Akihabara, Asakusa,Oriental Bazaar along
Omotesando in Harajuku and Ameyoko, Ueno. Look for 100 yen and 3 coins
(300 yen) shops too. Tokyo station have lotsa good deal too. Don
Quijote, Bic Camera, Uniqlo are favourable too. (Halal chocolates/snacks
are available too!)
14) Check the weather before you heading to
Tokyo. It might be colder at night and you might need a jacket/umbrella
as it will be rainy season! Japan have 4 seasons and keep checking the
weather forecast time to time!
15) Transportation in Tokyo: 80
percent of people here relies on train system which is available at the
wee of hours. The rest 18 percent relies on buses and rest via Taxi/Uber.
Some busess goes to the city with no charges so do some research about
it.
Please take note Taxi and Uber fares are freaking expensive here unless you are at the stage of emergency, use it wisely.
Especially when you reached the airport at late nigh, limousine busses
are available till 2 A.M (2000 yen for late night, 1000 yen during day
time) From Narita/Haneda Aiport to Shinjuku. Then you can opt to take
cab/uber.
16) Wifi Connection : Wifi connection here are accessible but not
reliable at remote place. So i opt to purchase pocket wifi service via
Roaming Man which one can collect from KLIA/KLIA2. No deposit (depends
on their policy updates time to time). Unlimited data and super
accessible wherever you are in Japan!
Why i didn't opt for sim card due to limited access for the day which i feel pocket WiFi is much more reliable.
17) Water are clean here? : Yes it is. Mineral water bottles are
purchasable via vending machines (you can see them anywhere on the
streets) , marts and supermarket (more discounts)
18) Do your
research before heading to Tokyo : If you are going in a tight budget,
check out some spots which provides free entrances. Most of the parks
are free and streets view are awesome. I watched thousands of youtube
channels and read lotsa article via Google.com.
I love adventures and natures rather than hanging on bling places. So,
if you saw my photos and journey, you will get some rough idea.
19) While shooting video/take selfie, be courteous. I always find a
quiet spot so i wont annoy people who are around me. Most of the time,
people are busy walking and you doesnt want to interrupt their journey!
20) For easy guidance, use the free pass (means it is a pass for
certain tourist destination which provides unlimited ride/discounts and
other benefits for the destination with cheaper fares.
Example,
if you planning to go to Kamakura, Mt Fuji, etc, visit Odakyu
Sightseeing Service centre in Shinjuku Station. For further information,
visit https://www.odakyu.jp/english/support/center/
21) I have a vary experience with Airasia Japan as they are strict with
the luggage weights. So, my suggestion is to take more baggage size
while booking the tickets. Hand luggage is strictly should be 7 KG and
only 2 bags are allowed to be carried.
While booking tickets at
Airasia, do not opt for the Value pack options if you are looking for
insurance coverage! Why? Baggage Delay & 1 hour On-time Guarantee
Insurance by Tune Protect is not covered for DJ flights (Japan airline)
Remind me an incident of myself about MH370 incident, for the first time i was flying to India few years back with
excitement plus nervous as it was my very first time flying to an
unknown country. It was a sunny day and haze season and a pretty good
day to start a journey as well. I remembered, my dearest friend Faran, dropped me to the airport, giving strength & courage to fly without fear.
In the plane, i met few strangers which are my friends now. I met a
Vietnamese girl, a geologist, who is on the way to meet her boyfriend
working in India after 5 years with a surprise visit. Another lady with
her baby traveling from Australia to India to meet her family after 2
years. A romantic old couple who i offered my seat so they can sit
together and are on the way back home to their homeland after been
migrated to another country for 15 years. The journey was pleasant till
the plane was about to land within 15 minutes, the pilot &
stewardess announced this :" Due to haze and bad weather, we are unable
to land to the airport right now". We are finding another route to
reach the airport and there will be a delay in reaching the
destination". Sorry for the inconvenient cause".
The look of
the passengers and myself, it was unforgettable. Some of the passengers
become restless, some felt terrified, some people turn on their phone,
in case something bad happened, people could reached them (as their
believe, i guess). It was a mixture feeling of myself " let see if the
plane crashed, what would be my last thought for my loved one?". Dear
God, i have few wishes to fulfill, just let me live till then. I need to
tell the people i loved, how much they meant to me in my life". I need
to seek forgiveness and say thank you too".
The Vietnamese
girl started to cry and the only thing i could comfort her saying, "we
will be fine & say your prayers". The plane was roaming nearly 1
hour on the air till they receive the signal to land on the airport and
nothing could explain my relieve and faith on God that time. And the
feeling of passengers in MH370, nothing could explain how they felt till
they are back.
So, keep hoping and stay strong for the
passengers! I never told this to anyone including my family members
& sharing my thoughts which i can relay how an incident can impact
someone's life. It may nothing new for some people who fly occasionally,
but certain things are totally meant to be remembered! I would like to
express my appreciation personally to the pilot, stewards &
stewardess that was on duty that day for their professional act. Without
these people, you may never will fly to your destination with care.
Few years back, I had been grieving for things involve personal, career & life. I forget how positive and joy vibes looks like. I stopped my favorite activities, take count of my own judgment and carried away. Then, I notice I have been doing this all the while in growing up period which made me to stop achieving for my dreams & goal. I was amazed and realize it is a normal process but yet sometimes, human being stuck in the process and doesn't want to move forward. After attending few quality session training in my company which made me to gain back my energy in work. I acknowledge myself to see things in beyond in few areas: skills, attitude, people, environment, relationship & universe. Yes, everyone have their role in this categories and often we forgets what they are. Skills : What I have learn and take part to show the interest of the skill. I love music and traveling. Music in sense, i love playing the piano and singing. So, i set a target what to improvise or i can do to contribute to society. Traveling is something i always fun to meet people and connect to the universe but sometimes, we forgot to take precaution when we are required for our survival day if we are stranded. I took "Impossible" movie as a credit to take things in consideration and preparing myself to it. Attitude : I forgive the person who hurt me in the past and made the conversation with them and it made me lighter in heart. We sometimes forget our own attitude makes an issue looks bigger which is not healthy for our life. Hear, Speak & Do No Evil. Sound familiar? Hear, Speak & Do Good? Sound familiar as well? Let's us embrace good things in life and throw all negatives feelings and attitude away. If someone talks bad about, smile and carry on. They might need to get a life or perhaps alone and need attention. People : Human comes in form ofEVERYTHING! Big, small, fat, thin, positive, hardworking, jealous, evil . genius, childish, etc. People around us, a factor to influence us to be who we are. My parents has been my PIONEER people who work their butts off to made me and my siblings success in life. Name it : music, language, education, travel, teamwork. hobbies, food & etc. They have been playing lot of parts in us life and I'm happy cause if i know a name of a plant or people amazed that we spoke a language, the token of recognition should goes to them. This might sound silly or childish, but i believe, every grown up will have some impact of attitude & skills gene of their parents. Environment : I remembered, at the age of 5, we used to live in grandma place which is 5 storey apartment. The place is green and people are friendly but yet, criminal starts to take place often with robbery and drugs. . After my grandparents decided to move to new place, i was addicted to visit the place just because i love the environment, but end of the day, gets beating when my parents found out about it. And i was 7 years old that time. The environment i was brought up changed few times. We was staying in an apartments with lot of families from different race know each other very well. I was stress as the eldest in the family, there is less time of playing with friends and focus on study. I forget to mentioned here, my parents are teacher. From the food we eat and time to go tuition, the environment we have was quality. When I start to grow up, the environment start to change.to be more mature journey for me. I prefer to live in a clean, hygienic & peaceful environment right now as this has been cultivate by parents. Relationship : Our first bonding of relationship has been always our parents since the day 1 we enter the world. Then goes knowing our siblings, relative, teachers, friends, colleague and etc. Each relationship will teach us a lesson. Take the good one and brush away the negative side. Don't take it personal as sometimes, relationship can give great impact if it work well. Right now, i prefer to have a good bond with everyone and gain knowledge, skill and experience from each relationship. My grandparents used to say "When you die, you will know how much impact you have done when people comes to your funeral".
Universe : "Make love with the universe". It’s having the universe bend in your favor. Any anyone can do it. You
don’t have to be a nomad, no-permanent address, and you don’t have to be
an entrepreneur and you don’t have to want to be incredibly
extraordinary. That’s not for everyone and there is something deep and
true and beautiful with having a loving family and a good job and being
really happy with your life the way it is. But maybe you just wish that
some of the seemingly good luck that happens to others happened to you. Tips to make it so :
Be Enthusiastic
Be Specific
Follow Up
Say Yes
Show Up
Return the Favor
Therefore, always remember to give the best to all the aspects mentioned earlier and make love to them for beautiful Life!
Goddess Amman also known as Mariamman, Mariaai both meaning "Mother Mari", simply Amman, Aatha or Mother is the South Indian Hindu goddess of rain. She is the main South Indian mother goddess, predominant well known to Hindu worldwide. Goddess Amman is closely associated with the Hindu goddesses Shakti, Parvati and Durga as well as with her North Indian counterpart Shitaladevi.
In the Hindu concept, the Mother Goddess is Shakti, the consort of Shiva, the Supreme God. Shakti is the source of feminine energy, which when combines with the masculine energy completes the cyclic requirement of creativity. And she is also the female aspect of the creator. In these various forms, she symbolizes love, compassion, care and also determination and the capability to destroy evil. Rig-Veda, the earliest Aryan text called her Mahi-maata, Mother Earth. But the pre-Vedic and pre-Dravidian Mohanjo-daro culture identified mother earth, as pointed out by scholars from the evidences given by seals of the period.
Amman Stotram/Slokam is the sacred Hindu devotional slokha for the devotees of Goddess Amman, the Divine Mother Goddess Parvathi Devi in the form of her and the male gods' feminine power, Shakti. Amman Stotram/Slokam is organized according to Pancha Kruthyam (5 works). The Pancha Kruthyam are Srishti (Creation), Stithi (Protection), Samharam (Destruction), Thirodhanam (Hiding), and Anugraham (Blessing). Therefore, reciting this mantra gives one happiness, peace and blissful life.
Amman Stotram/Slokam is a very powerful slokha chanting it and
meditating it on the meaning of the 108/1008 names of Goddess Amman will
ward off all evils and would lead to the fulfillment of all the wishes
of the devotees. Chanting these mantra on Fridays is considered
auspicious.
There is different version of 108 Amman Slokam like Shri Lalita Sahasranam, 1008 Amman Potri, Durga Slokam, etc. Here, i posted Shri Lalita Sahasranam 108 names of Devi which can be chanted easily by anyone. For easy listening, i even posted a video from youtube. Enjoy chanting the mantra with peaceful mind!
